Dearest chai drinkers,
I've been feeling particularly thankful lately. It might be because I've successfully completed sixty continuous days of morning journaling, or perhaps my upcoming MBA journey is making me appreciate my present life even more.
People often ask if I've gained traction with this newsletter. In the early days, I was excited and even delved into Substack’s growth strategies. But, I soon realized that I was starting to lose the joy of writing organically and freely. I had to remind myself:
“Not everything is about success. Life isn't a race. Some things are allowed to exist without any end purpose or target.”
Since then, I've been writing without the fear of producing perfect content or sticking to a particular theme. If you scroll through my now fifteen posts, you'll find a variety of topics, each unique yet connected, much like life itself.
~ Maybe there is a lot to be grateful for ~
As I read through these compliments, I feel incredibly grateful for having people who took out time to have chai with me instead of watching reels (a significant opportunity cost given how entertaining and addictive they are).
Thank you. Your support fueled me to get through my first few posts.
If this pursuit lasts beyond this 25-week series and eventually evolves into a money-generating blog, you, my initial chai drinkers, are entitled to some equity.
Dear non-equity holders, don’t feel bad if you didn’t make the cut. The odds of this happening are highly unlikely.
~ Small gestures can go a long way ~
Another self-realization I had from receiving messages about CwG is that small efforts can have a big impact. For as long as I can remember, I used to be someone who would do high-effort things for friends but miss out on the easier things like remembering birthdays, giving gifts, sending complimentary messages, or even making random gestures. But seeing the impact of people's messages on me has inspired me to get better at doing these simple things:
Recently, I went through 100+ unopened WhatsApp messages and reached out to some people I had forgotten to reply to (some dating as far back as three years)
I've made it a point to send thank-you messages to those who host me.
I've started buying random gifts for people I value
