Week 1/25 - The 5g or less added sugar rule
For the past 8 years, I have been following one rule to reduce my sugar intake and manage my weight. While eating any snack, I make sure to check the macros and see the added sugar content. If it is 5g or less, I usually eat the snack. But anything above 5g, I usually discard.
A good example that comes to mind is Kind Bars. I love them. Those bars are kind but some are kinder than others. The images below show two Kind Bars, but one has almost twice the amount of added sugar than the other.
If I had eaten the higher added sugar content bar every day for a week instead of the lower added sugar one, I would have consumed almost 6 additional teaspoons of sugar in that week.
